Dr. François Vurpillot

François Vurpillot is professor at the University of Rouen, and researcher in the « Groupe de Physique des Matériaux », CNRS laboratory. He is Head of the Scientific Instrumentation Department of the group. François Vurpillot obtained his Ph.D. in Rouen and completed his post-doctoral research at Oxford (Marie Curie Fellowship in the department of Materials) on image formation with the Atom Probe Tomography (APT) instrument. François Vurpillot is a specialist in field emission and laser induced field emission and has contributed to the development of several generations of Atom Probe Instruments. He is a recognized international expert in the Atom Probe community. He served as the Vice-President of the International Field Emission Society from 2014 to 2018.
Dr. Lin Shao

Prof. Lin Shao is Robert Cochran University Professor at the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University. He received his B.S. degree from Peking University and Ph.D. from Univ. of Houston, both in Physics. Prior to joining TAMU, he was Director Funded Postdoctoral Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Dr. Shao’s primary research interests are ion-solid interaction and nuclear materials. He has published four book chapters, over 220 journal papers and frequently served as Conference Chair for International Conferences (IBMM 2018 and REM 10). He established the Accelerator Laboratory at Texas A&M University which is one NSUF user facility and equipped with five accelerators of terminal voltage of 10 kV to 3 MV. Prof. Shao received a Postdoctoral Distinguished Performance Award from Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2006 and the inaugural IBMM Prize in 2008 for his past contributions in the ion beam field. He also received the 2009 NSF career award and numerous teaching and research awards at TAMU. At an educator, he has graduated 16 PhD students.
